We’re pleased to report that Sheffield Archives and Local
Studies Library have been awarded a grant of £22,500 by the Arts Council for a year-long
project called ‘The City as Bricolage’.
The project will commission three local photographers (Clive Egginton,
Andy Brown and Gemma Thorpe) to carry out work with various Sheffield
communities – the photographs will be added to the Picture Sheffield website.
The project will also work with pupils from Sheffield
schools who will research their local areas through historical sources and
contemporary photography.
The photographs created by the project will go on tour
throughout the city in 2014.
The project will create a valuable and dynamic addition
to the city's archives, helping to ensure that Sheffield’s diversity continues
to be represented in the collections.
