Summer Reading Challenge 2022

Calling all 4 – 11 year olds!  Join the Gadgeteers and read six or more library books this summer.  Collect stickers and other rewards for every book read and if you complete the challenge, collect a medal and certificate.

Football Board Gaming Championship

To celebrate Sheffield being a host city for the Women’s European Championship, we are inviting children to take part in an exciting football themed competition using the popular and innovative football board game, Klask. 

The top players from each library will be invited to participate in a football style play off on Saturday 30th July at Sheffield Central Library.  The overall winners will be presented with their very own new copy of Klask! Every participant will receive a certificate. 

In addition, at each session there will also be other table top board game activities available.

No booking required.  Just drop in

Become a Gadgeteer with Amazelab

Inspired by the Summer Reading Challenge, Amazelab present a series of science-based family activities, suitable for children aged 5-11 years of age.

The world needs to find solutions to many problems, do you think you can help out? Design and bring to life your own monster or robot to help solve the problem of your choice.

Maker Library: Gadgets and Gizmos

Maker{Futures} have teamed up with Sheffield Libraries to develop a series of family tinkering workshops inspired by the Summer Reading Challenge and the book Izzy Gizmo. 

Izzy loves to make gadgets out of cardboard boxes and other bits and pieces. In these workshops you will use cardboard, electronics and other everyday resources to create gadgets & gizmos.  These two-hour sessions are suitable for children aged 5 - 12 years.

Florence and her Fantastic Farts

Join award-winning author Salma Zaman for a fun filled mix of storytelling, dancing and science.  We’ll be enjoying gruesome and gory smelling experiments and discover why farts smell so bad!  Suitable for children aged 6-11 years.
