Sheffield City Archives and Local Studies Library are looking for an experienced individual (or partnership) to plan and deliver
an introduction to family history course, based on the sources available at the City Archives and Sheffield Local Studies Library (church registers, newspapers, electoral registers, FindMyPast, etc).

The course will be delivered over a number of weeks (the number of weeks is up to you) and will be delivered face to face at the City Archives and/or Sheffield Local Studies Library during the daytime.

The course will be aimed at beginners and those with some knowledge of tracing their ancestors.  It will be focused on Sheffield ancestors, but should also include information that would be useful for anyone tracing their family tree.

We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals (or groups / partnerships) to design and deliver the course.  You will be supported by City Archives and Library staff (for instance, getting out original documents to use in the course, or advising on our sources, etc)

In your submission we require:

  • Your skills and experience: (max 200 words)
  • Any relevant qualifications: (optional)
  • An outline of the course: A list of topics that will make up the course, the number of weeks the course will run, how many attendees you would accept, how you would deliver the sessions, when and where the sessions would be based, etc (max 400 words)
  • Your fee (excl. VAT)

The closing date for the expression of interest is 5pm on Friday 15 March.

To submit your expression of interest, or request further information, please email archives@sheffield.gov.uk
